There is a flaw in the design of these trucks, the stock fuse is the right amperage, but the contact points in the fuse box are not sufficient enough to avoid overheating.My truck took an extra cycle to crank right before the original fuse blew, I was able to drive home, but when I went to start the truck again it cranked and wouldn’t start because the fuse going to the fuel pump was blown. I was able to replace the 20A original fuse and get back on the road again but any time a fuse blows, there is a bigger problem that needs to be addressed and that’s where this kit comes in.Without this repair kit, the problem would have continued, and the small melted area around the original fuse would have continued to grow in size, potentially ruining the whole fuse box.Get this kit if you have one of these trucks, shame on Ford for not issuing a recall for this obvious design flaw, but since that probably won’t happen you’d be best off getting this kit and installing it yourself. Look it up on YouTube, there are great videos that skip a few unnecessary steps from the official Ford service bulletin instructions – also check the F150 forum, that’s a great resource and if you own one of these trucks you need to be there anyway.
